The Type R Civic model was rolled out in March 2006 to much international acclaim.

In 2005, the UK plant that produces the Civic and CR-V completed its 2 millionth engine and its 750,000th Civic. Employing around 5000 associates, Honda celebrated its 20th year in Swindon in 2006 with the opening of its huge new distribution centre.
