Further Education
Open since 1984, New College offers a wide range of courses for school-leavers. It is one of the biggest centre's for A-level studies in the UK, and also runs a range of vocational programmes - GNVQs, AVCEs, BTEC National Diplomas and GCSEs. Studies are complemented by an excellent enrichment programme of educational, social, cultural and sporting activities. The College provides Higher National qualifications in Computing (Business ICT with Multimedia options), and Sport & Exercise Sciences in partnership with Gloscat plus first year degree level provision through Bath Spa University College in English, Geography, Psychology and the Social Sciences. With its brand new premises Swindon College has courses ranging across vocational, academic and specialist learning for 14 to 19 year olds. It also offers apprenticeships and a range of Higher Education options such as BA (Hons) and foundation degree courses validated by the University of Bath as well as a post-graduate programme. Higher Education
The University of the West of England is working with Swindon Borough Council to develop a university campus in Swindon's town centre.
The School of Health and Social Care at Oxford Brookes University has been teaching at its Ferndale Campus in Swindon since 1999. They have a flourishing student community of over 250 students studying Adult Nursing Degree and Diploma courses, an Operating Department Practice course and various Continuing Professional Development courses.
